Catholic wins title
Pat Maloney holds the trophyAndy Rice scored 17 points and the Cardinals finished with a 28-12 run as Catholic defeated William Paterson 76-62 to win its first national championship. The Cardinal seniors end their four-year career 100-21.

Pat Maloney (right) scored 45 points in the two games and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Championships. Catholic's Matt Hilleary joined him on the All-Tournament team, along with William Paterson's Horace Jenkins, Ohio Northern's Chad Bostelman and Luke Kasten from Illinois Wesleyan.

The Division III men's championships have been held at Salem, Va., since 1996.
