Amherst with trophyJeffs are Lords of D-III
Amherst was the last unbeaten team in Division III basketball. And on Saturday, the Lord Jeffs were the last team standing. Amherst won the national championship, defeating Virginia Wesleyan and ending the Marlins' repeat hopes on the season's final night, 80-67.

Andrew Olson was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four, with Tim McLaughlin joining him on the All-Tournament team. Amherst already had the monkey off its back, but added Walnut and Bronze to what was already an outstanding season, writes Pat Coleman in his Final Four wrapup.
